Javonte Brown is a towering Canadian center for the Calgary Surge whose size, mobility, and interior presence make him a key frontcourt piece. Standing 7-foot and weighing 240 pounds, the Toronto native brings a physical, defensive-minded style built around rim protection, rebounding, and efficient finishing around the basket.

Brown joined the Surge ahead of the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League season following a well-traveled NCAA Division I career. He most recently suited up for the Rhode Island Rams men's basketball, where he started all 31 games and averaged 8.1 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting an efficient 65 percent from the field. His ability to anchor the paint and impact both ends of the floor was highlighted by a 21-point, 10-rebound performance against Temple Owls men's basketball and consistent shot-blocking throughout conference play.

Prior to Rhode Island, Brown gained experience at multiple high-level programs, including the UConn Huskies men's basketball, Texas A&M Aggies men's basketball, and Western Michigan Broncos men's basketball. At Texas A&M, he made 11 starts and helped guide the team to an NIT Championship Game appearance, adding to a collegiate résumé built against top-tier competition.

At the international level, Brown has represented Canada in youth competition, including the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup, further establishing himself as one of the country’s top big-man prospects coming out of prep school.

In his first season with Calgary, Brown provided efficient interior production, appearing in 19 games and contributing scoring, rebounding, and rim protection in a supporting role. Now developing within the Surge system, he projects as a reliable defensive anchor and physical presence in the paint as the team continues its pursuit of a CEBL championship.
