The Calgary Surge 2026 Summer Intern Program is your gateway to gaining hands-on experience in the business, operations, and culture of a top-tier professional basketball team.

Program Overview

This is a 16-week, full-time summer internship where you’ll dive into the world of pro sports. You’ll work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with evenings and weekends as needed. You’ll get real responsibility, direct mentorship, and the opportunity to be part of a team setting the standard across the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL).


Interns will collaborate across departments including:


  • Marketing
  • Business Operations
  • Creative and Communications
  • Basketball Operations
  • General assignments based on your interests and strengths

Who We’re Looking For

We want candidates who:

  • Are enrolled in an accredited university or college (undergraduate or graduate level)


  • Can commit full-time from May through August 2026


  • Have strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset


  • Demonstrate leadership, creativity or initiative in past projects, classes or work


  • Thrive in fast-paced environments with high standards and visible impact



  • Is excited about building community through sports, culture and entertainment

INTERN EXPERIENCE


As a Calgary Surge intern, you’ll work on real projects that directly support our 2026 season while gaining hands-on experience in event planning, fan engagement, sales strategy, or media content—tailored to your skills and interests. You’ll be on-site during home games and major community events, playing an active role in shaping the Surge experience. Throughout the program, you’ll learn from our full-time staff and cross-functional leadership, developing valuable tools and insights that will set you apart after graduation. helping us bring Calgary together through the power of basketball.

Timeline and Location


Start Date: Late April 2026


Duration: 16 weeks (approximately)


Compensation:Paid internship program; academic credit preferred (where applicable)


Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week plus evenings and weekends as needed


Location: Calgary, Alberta (in-person only)

POSITIONS AVAILABLE


Business Operations Intern (multiple positions)

The Operations Intern has the responsibility of supporting the day-to-day operations of the organization, particularly as it relates to the core functions of business administration, general/gameday operations, merchandise, sponsorship deliverables, marketing, camps, and other live events.


The role will work across departments within the Calgary Surge and with a diverse set of stakeholders across our organization and fan base (e.g., season ticket members, customers, vendors, sponsors, CEBL staff). This position is suited for a self-motivated, competitive, and strategic professional seeking to strengthen their position in professional sports. This internship will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to learn what it takes to have a successful career in the sports industry.
