CALGARY SURGE ANNOUNCE PLAY ALBERTA AS A SEASON PRESENTING SPONSOR THROUGH 2026

APRIL 25 – The Calgary Surge have signed a multi-year deal with Play Alberta making them one of the Surge’s Season Presenting Partners for the 2024, 2025, and 2026 seasons, the team announced Thursday.

 

Being the province's sole regulated online gambling website, PlayAlberta.ca is known for its commitment to responsible gambling practices and its robust platform. They will serve as an invaluable partner to the Surge, and both organizations will work closely to strengthen the sports and entertainment landscape across Alberta.

"Their commitment to responsible gambling aligns perfectly with our values of integrity and community engagement. Together, we will not only enhance the sports experience for our fans, but also promote responsible entertainment practices."

 

Sponsorship terms include Play Alberta securing naming rights for the Surge’s home court at WinSport Event Centre, presenting rights to the ‘Surge 2 The Dome’ season opener at the Scotiabank Saddledome, and the Play Alberta logo being displayed on the back of Surge jerseys.

The Calgary Surge tipped off their inaugural season at WinSport Event Centre in May 2023, after originating as the Guelph Nighthawks, one of the founding members of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). About the Canadian Elite Basketball League

 

A league created by Canadians for Canadians with a mission to develop Canadian players, coaches, sports executives, and referees, the CEBL boasts the highest percentage of Canadian players of any pro league in the country with 73% of its 2023 rosters being Canadian. Players bring experience from the NBA, NBA G League, top international pro leagues, the Canadian National team program, and top NCAA programs as well as U SPORTS. Fourteen players have signed NBA contracts following a CEBL season, and numerous CEBL players attend NBA G League training camps every year. The CEBL season runs from May through August.
