WHAT IS THE "BE WELL" SCHOOL DAY GAME

WITH THE CALGARY SURGE?

On Monday, May 4, 2026, the Calgary Surge will host the 3rd Annual School Day Showcase Game at WinSport Event Centre in collaboration with the Calgary Board of Education.

Designed specifically for CBE, this intrasquad showcase and surrounding program support the Student Well-Being Framework through student-focused content, in-game educational messaging, and a live learning environment.

WELL-BEING FRAMEWORK

This event is built to support student learning and well-being—not just game-day entertainment. Programming is aligned

with CBE’s five key well-being pillars: Diversity and Inclusion, School Connectedness, Regulation, Resilience, and Mental Health.

Diversity and Inclusion:

 Students are welcomed into a respectful, school-centred environment where different backgrounds and

perspectives are valued through inclusive messaging and diverse role models.

School Connectedness:

The event is designed to strengthen students’ sense of belonging by creating positive shared experiences

with peers, educators, and role models.

Regulation:

 Programming reinforces age-appropriate self-regulation skills (focus, emotional awareness,

and positive decision-making) that support readiness to learn.

Resilience:

 We highlight the value of effort, persistence, and learning through challenges—on and off the court.

Mental Health:

 The day is intentionally built to be supportive, uplifting, and psychologically safe for students and school groups.
